It really is that hilarious.

Two reviews?! In one night?! Yes, my dear readers (all two of you), I have an internet connection that is not in the Library back at University. Arn’t you lucky?

I don’t know why I bought this, I mean, my parents have a 10cc ‘best of’ album, same songs more or less, it’s just all in a different order.

To me, 10cc songs are either good, or shit, there is no inbetween, there is no alright. Although, there is a very good. Dreadlock Holiday and Rubber Bullets are the only very good songs though.
I don’t think there’s really much anyone can say about 10cc.

I give this album a 5/10 because I only like half the album. Logical, yes?

Before you ask: No, I have not seen the film.
I want to though, I just don’t think York’s two screen cinema is showing it. I should go really.
My first real encounter of Joy Division was two years ago, dancing around drunkenly, not really knowing what I was dancing to, but loving the song, all the same*. But even before this, I liked New Order, and was amazed to learn that New Order was the pheonix that rose from the ashes of Joy Division, they sound completely different, but I like them both, yes I do.

I digress.
On the whole, I liked the album, it’s a good album. The cast version of Transmission was rather good, I don’t know whether it’ll please the most devoted of hardcore Joy Division fans, but they did well, they had a hard act to follow.
The Killers’ cover of Shadowplay (one of my favourite JD songs) is well done and I particularly enjoyed David Bowie’s Warszawa. No idea why. New Order’s Get Out was also lovely.

My only complaint in Evidentally Chicken Town by John Cooper Clarke. I didn’t see the point. But then, I havn’t seen the film, maybe I’d appreciate it more then. It’s only 30 seconds long, so it’s not as if it was wasting Joy Division Goodness.

 Overall, I’d give this album a 7/10. It’s good. I liked it. But it’s not exactally feelgood, it’s the sort of album I’d play whilst driving in a car, late night. Pity I can’t drive and want a scooter, isn’t it?

*It was Love Will Tear Us Apart, by the way.

…is a knob.

People would say I’m jumping on the media bandwagon, but if we ignored the press and took into account that she cancels her gigs, turns up drunk and drugged to every interview and refuses all the help she is offered (and she gets offered more help than most), I think any one can decide for themselves that Amy Winehouse, is indeed, a knob.

I also did not approve of Ms. Declinehouse taking the Mercury Prize night away from the Klaxons, which was obviously a very important night to them and all the Press cared about was the fact that Amy Winehouse turned up and actually performed.
Last time I checked, The Mercury Prize was about the music, not whether Amy Winehouse decides to turn up or not.

And before anyone even thinks of saying anything, I am not criticising her actual music here, just her.

I’ll save that for another day.

What is the attraction?

I’m sorry but I fail to see the appeal of someone “singing” in an exagerrated accent, to lyrics that a five year old could clearly top. Her single “Foundations” has stormed the charts, as well as her album, and why?! This is someone we all will have [ thankfully ] forgotten by next year, with a meaningless and talentless album that seems to have drawn people in. Can someone please tell me what is so special about Kate Nash?

Maybe I’m just being a grumpy cow but I honestly don’t understand it. There are so many talented artists in our charts at the moment [ well, more talented than her anyway ] so why has she done so well? I would rather listen to dance or rap than her droning monotonal ramblings, and that really is saying something. Each day I turn on one of our music channels and am greeted every time by Kate Nash and classic lines like “I said; “I’d rather be with your friends mate ’cause they are much fitter”, and, “Don’t want to look at your face ’cause it’s makin’ me sick. You’ve gone and got sick on my trainers, I only got these yesterday. Oh, my gosh, I cannot be bothered with this” - genius; I think not.

Where has all the talent and emotion gone? Why have “musicians” resorted to singing in false accents about their trainers? You see programs like X Factor for example, and there are some immensely talented vocalists competing for the top spot. These people have more talent in their earlobe than Kate Nash will ever have! However, what bugs me the most is that if she walked in front of Simon, Louie, and Sharon and “sang” to them; they’d laugh. They’d laugh so hard, insult her a bit, and tell her not to give up her day job - and they’d be completely justified in doing so. So how has this “sensation” wormed her way into peoples’ hearts? I have no idea…

The sooner she’s through with her 15 minutes of fame, the better. I’d rather listen to Crazy Frog.

I’ve so far only listened to Guitar and The One U Wanna C but it’s a pretty feelgood album so far.

As you may or may not know, Prince caused some controversy by only releasing this album through the Mail on Sunday.

I’m liking it but I am a part-time Prince fan! It’s even inspired me to get my Best Of album out of my room and rip it onto the computer for nostalgia’s sake.

Tickets go on sale to the public on the 21st July

Of course, this is all irrelevant to most people.
